OMOTAYO AWEDA
My name is Omotayo... but you already knew that. In the philosophy of Taiye Selasi, I am a local of London, Ilorin, Abuja, Banjul, Washington DC, and most recently through marriage, Sydney. Yes, yes, I hail from one of those migrant Nigerian families, but I promise I wouldn't trade it for the world. My experiences living in different cities around the world have taught me to love and appreciate people from all walks of life. I enjoy listening to stories and learning about different cultures. Perhaps this is where my love for story telling was birthed.
I aim to tell a story with every shutter cycle of my camera; her name is Abebi, by the way. I am so not bragging when I say I am one of the most optimistic people I know (no, I am not surrounded by pessimists). I believe there is beauty in every thing, in every moment, even when it is not always visible to the naked eye. I have come to find out I really love telling these beautiful stories.
I stumbled into photography, much like I stumble into other things, about 4 years ago when I was a freshman in the university. That was when I got my first legit camera, Blessing, a beautiful Nikon Coolpix P100. Just as my story telling has matured, so have my babies. For about a year now, I have been the proud mother of Abebi, a Sony Alpha 77, who I love so dearly.
In recent times, I have become obsessed with autumn. For one, it's not too cold, and the colors absolutely warm my heart. I see a row of beautiful trees with leaves turning yellow and bright orange, and even though some may see that as the death of said leaves, I see the beauty in a new phase of life, and I anticipate with hope the return of the fragrance of spring.
Follow me on my story telling quest!
